About the department
The Biology department has set itself the goal of providing high-quality teaching that fosters commitment to the subject and success at the baccalaureate and in various competitions.
Among our methods, discovery-based learning, cooperative learning models, group research and experiments are given particular importance. In our lessons we also place considerable emphasis on developing reading comprehension, communication, internet and language skills, and on using the technical language of the subject both in the mother tongue and in foreign languages.
For years our department has been identifying and developing talent. As a result, our students have achieved, and continue to achieve, outstanding results in national and international competitions. Our students' work has been presented at many national and international competitions, and they have come home with prizes from the TUDEK and TUDOK student research competitions, from the research competitions announced by Természet Világa (a science magazine), and from various county, regional, national and international subject competitions.
Our students regularly do very well not only in the admission exams of higher education institutions across the country (Babeș-Bolyai University, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș, Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania), but also in the admission exams of various universities abroad (universities in Hungary, Germany and England). Our students won their places at universities abroad on the strength of their work in the Student Research Circle and the research papers they wrote there, and of their results in national and international competitions. We also consider this work very important because it means that the seeds of a European-level professional and personal preparation of the young Transylvanian intelligentsia are sown at secondary school, and that we provide various universities with a new generation of well-prepared students.
