Get to know Bolyai Farkas Theoretical High School
The oldest school in Târgu Mureș
Bolyai Farkas Theoretical High School is the oldest and most prestigious Hungarian-language educational institution in Târgu Mureș (Marosvásárhely). Since its foundation in 1557 it has served the community as a guardian of knowledge, culture and values.
The school is named after Bolyai Farkas (1775–1856), the world-famous mathematician and polymath, who taught at the college from 1804 to 1851. His son, Bolyai János, studied here and went on to become the founder of non-Euclidean geometry.
Today it welcomes talented students in four specialisations (mathematics–computer science, natural sciences, philology and social sciences), carrying on a centuries-old tradition.
