Ribbon Ceremony

The Ribbon Ceremony tradition

The Ribbon Ceremony is one of the most important school celebrations for final-year students: this is when the baccalaureate candidates receive from their parents a ribbon in the school's colours, which they wear on their clothes until the baccalaureate.
At our school, the Gyöngyvirág folk dance group, the music club and the recorder club traditionally perform at the Ribbon Ceremony, making the evening a true cultural celebration.

Pinning on the ribbons

Parents or teachers pin the ribbons on the baccalaureate candidates — in the school's colours.

The symbolism of the ribbon

The ribbon is made in the school's colours and, until the baccalaureate, shows that its wearer is preparing for the exam. It stands for pride, responsibility and commitment to the school all at once.

The ribbons of the Bolyai Farkas Theoretical High School bear the name of the school and the year of the baccalaureate — so the student keeps a memento for life.
